Market Positioning Through the Power of Story

Erikka and Daree

My friend Erikka J, a certified Storybrand coach and pro voice actor, presented a messaging & marketing workshop. (I interviewed her on my podcast a few years ago.)

When it comes to marketing, you have to be clear on what problems you solve for others. Let your prospects know what they could lose or miss if they don’t hire you.

The brain wants to conserve energy, and it likes stories.

Brandscript

A story usually starts with a main character who is not the strongest, but the guide is. By the end of the story, the main character is the hero.

  • Character- make the customer the character, not you. What do they want?

    • 3 levels of problem: external, internal, philosophical (the way things should be)

    • Capture and reflect the emotion of your audience.

  • A Guide has a plan to get the main character what they want:

  • Empathy- “No one should have to”…. settle for subpar audio quality from voice actors. “We understand how it feels to…”

  • Competency- testimonials, awards, reviews
